Japanese-Brazilian writer and director Edson Oda works where different visual forms meet. Paper, comic-book imagery and imagined worlds become ways into questions about being human. The route may be unusual. The feeling is not.
His supernatural drama “Nine Days” premiered at Sundance, was executive produced by Spike Jonze and distributed by Sony Pictures. It stars Winston Duke, Zazie Beetz, Bill Skarsgård and Benedict Wong.
Away from those imagined worlds, you may find Edson salsa dancing on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade. Another perfectly good way to express oneself.
