Who we are
ELEANOR is an independent creative and production company operating through Eleanor, LLC in the United States and Eleanor Films Limited in the United Kingdom.
Eleanor, LLC is responsible for personal information used to operate this website, the ELEANOR newsletter, Winners applications and the Shop, and for its US business enquiries. Eleanor Films Limited is responsible for personal information used in its UK business enquiries and projects. A controller is the organisation that decides why and how personal information is used.
You can contact us about privacy or exercise your rights by emailing privacy@eleanor.co with the subject “Privacy request”, or by writing to the relevant company at the address below. We will help direct your request to the responsible company.

Information we use and why
Business enquiries. We use your name, contact details, company or role, correspondence and the project information you provide to respond and manage the relationship. If you are personally entering a contract with us, we use information needed to take steps you request before that contract and to perform it. For company representatives and other business correspondence, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and managing professional relationships, where UK data protection law applies.
Newsletter. If you subscribe, we use your email address and preferences through Klaviyo to send ELEANOR updates with your consent. Unsubscribe through our emails or contact privacy@eleanor.co. A Winners application or Shop purchase does not itself subscribe you. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing.
Newsletter measurement. Klaviyo can record email opens and link clicks, associated with a subscriber profile. This may involve email pixels, tracked links and technical request data. For questions about newsletter tracking, contact privacy@eleanor.co.
Winners applications. We use your name, email address, optional company or creative practice, application text, requested size and submission information to assess and respond to your request. Our proposed lawful basis is our legitimate interest in administering the programme and allocating jackets fairly. Applications are held privately and reviewed by our team, with appropriate escalation within ELEANOR. Please do not include sensitive personal information or private information about others that is unnecessary for your application.
Orders and website operation
Shop orders. We use the contact, billing, delivery and order information needed to process your order, arrange delivery, provide customer service and deal with returns or payment queries. Shopify supplies product availability, baskets and checkout. Payments are handled through Shopify and the payment services offered at checkout. The saved bag on this website contains product-variant identifiers and quantities, not payment-card details.
Shopify Network Intelligence. Shopify provides our Shop’s commerce services and hosts checkout. Network Intelligence is enabled: information about your interactions with our Shop is shared with Shopify and used together with information from your interactions with other merchants and with Shopify to improve products, personalise services and target advertising. Shopify and its service providers may process this information in other countries. Read Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Policy at Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Policy. You can use Shopify’s privacy portal at Shopify’s privacy portal to exercise applicable rights, including objecting to processing or withdrawing consent.
Shop privacy choices. Where applicable, you can opt out of sharing or targeted advertising through our Shop’s privacy choices page at Shop privacy choices. You can also contact privacy@eleanor.co about your rights with ELEANOR.
For orders, we rely on performing our contract with you; for required accounting and tax records, our legal obligations; and for appropriate fraud prevention, security and dispute handling, our legitimate interests. Information required at checkout is needed to process your order. You can browse without placing an order.
Website delivery and security. Our hosting and security services may process IP addresses, request and browser information and security events to serve pages, prevent abuse and investigate faults. Where UK data protection law applies, the proposed basis is our legitimate interest in maintaining a reliable and secure service. Cookies and browser storage are explained in our Cookies notice; this basis does not replace any consent required for storage or tracking.
Films and third party services
Full films load through Vimeo when you press Play. Loading a player sends technical request information to Vimeo. The player uses Vimeo’s do-not-track setting. Vimeo says this limits new cookies to security cookies, but existing Vimeo cookies may still be sent by your browser. You can avoid loading the player by not pressing Play. Local preview loops and thumbnails do not load a Vimeo player.
How long we keep information
Under our retention policy, ordinary enquiries are kept for up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact. Unsuccessful Winners applications are deleted within 90 days after the decision. Successful application narratives are deleted within 90 days after dispatch; the minimum fulfilment record is kept for 12 months after delivery, unless it forms part of a record we must keep longer.
We retain newsletter subscriptions while you remain subscribed. After unsubscribe, we keep a limited suppression record to respect your choice. We retain only the consent evidence needed to explain and demonstrate the permission we relied on, with periodic review.
Order, accounting and tax records are kept for the period applicable to the record and relevant company. We determine that period using the relevant statutory requirements, accountant-approved schedule, audit needs and any active dispute or preservation requirement. Records for a project that proceeds are managed under the appropriate project schedule rather than the ordinary enquiry period.
We retain information for longer only where justified by a specific legal, tax, security or dispute requirement. When the relevant purpose and retention requirement end, information is deleted or anonymised. Deletion from backup systems follows the verified backup cycle; any residual copy is restricted to recovery and is not used for routine business purposes.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the law and purpose of processing, you may have rights to obtain access to your personal information, correct it, request deletion, restrict its use or receive portable information. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Your right to object. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object to the processing on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may object to the use of your information for direct marketing at any time.
Email privacy@eleanor.co or write to either address above to make a request. We may request proportionate information to confirm your identity where appropriate. We will respond within the period required by the applicable law and explain any lawful limitation or exception. Please do not send identity documents unless we ask for them through an appropriate method.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at Information Commissioner’s Office. Where EU/EEA GDPR applies, you may also complain to the supervisory authority where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred. You do not have to contact us first.
California residents
Where the California Consumer Privacy Act applies, California residents may have rights to know, access, correct and delete personal information, opt out of sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive equal treatment when exercising those rights. Requests may be made directly or through an authorised agent, subject to applicable verification rules.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when our practices change and show the effective date at the top. Where required, we will give additional notice or seek consent before a new use of your information.
