Born in Madrid and raised in Gijón, Imanol Ruiz de Lara is the son of actors. Performance was part of the picture early on.
He began in fashion film, working with Vogue, Yves Saint Laurent and Adolfo Domínguez. His Vogue films “Haunted by Love” and “Europa II” received Best Fashion Film and Best Director honours at festivals including La Jolla and the Canadian International Film Festival. His advertising debut, “Collisions” for Heart Ibiza, was shortlisted at Cannes Lions.
Imanol brings visual humour and a precise eye for casting, styling and art direction to commercials and fiction. His short films have travelled widely on the international festival circuit.
He also loves cheese. Some tastes require no further explanation.
