Nate Townsend knows the quiet moments can do the heavy lifting. The Los Angeles-based writer and director brings the intimacy and restraint of dramatic cinema to advertising’s bigger canvas. He knows when to hold back, and when to let a moment fill the screen.
A former DDB creative, Nate understands the brief. Making you feel something is where he gets interesting. His work for AT&T, Ford, Leica and Electronic Arts has drawn attention from Ad Age, Adweek, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, with recognition from Cannes Lions, D&AD, the Clios, the Shots Awards and AICP. Good company, darling.
His curiosity extends well beyond the commercial frame. He directed the feature documentary Wake Up: Stories from the Frontlines of Suicide Prevention, which premiered as part of the 2020 We Are One Global Film Festival. A photographer too, his longstanding relationship with Leica spans commissioned films, still photography and work exhibited through Leica Gallery Los Angeles.
