Chicken Jazz Wins at Psicurt

A chicken suit. An old trumpet. And now, a first prize.

Imanol Ruiz de Lara’s Chicken Jazz won first prize for Best Fiction Short at the eleventh Psicurt festival. The award was announced at the closing ceremony at Teatre Bartrina in Reus on 11 October 2026.

Psicurt brings cinema and conversations about mental health together. Its 2026 edition selected 25 films for the official programme from more than 430 submissions.

We previously shared Chicken Jazz’s place in the Blanes programme. This is a new chapter in the film’s festival journey, and a lovely reason to return to Imanol’s particular way with character.

Congratulations, Imanol, and to everyone who made the film. Some stories find their own rhythm.
