September & the Winds of Change
September ushers in an era of shifting seasons.
With this turn in tides, we ask ourselves how we may too evolve and grow. Perhaps that itch for development is Virgo season’s influence...
I've selected three very different visual stories to share with you, each relating to this theme of change in their own way.
Carers
Chris Chuky • Carers UK
With the forward dance of time, relationships and roles may evolve, but the care that unites us persists.
With a beautifully understated execution, Chris Chuky’s film for Carer’s UK is intentional in how it recognizes the world’s so many unpaid carers.
This is a story of love told gently. The subtle camera movement speaks to the gradual evolution of these relationships, holding a mirror to how this change unfolds in life.
With soft light and warm color, Chris imbues every frame with an optimistic, nostalgic tone.
Directed By
Kelsey Taylor • Russell & Bromley
In the realm of sartorial expression, a change of clothes can instigate a transfiguration in our experience of the mundane.
With richly cinematic visual storytelling, "Directed By" manifests the extraordinary difference of luxurious detail across the screen.
Character-filled frames, charming performances, and a playful but elegant tone craft this portrait of impeccable style.
We are transported to a recognizable snapshot of the everyday–a morning commute, a dog walk, parents’ night.
Suddenly, glamor embodied walks in with a sauntering stride and, of course, the perfect outfit.
The glint in their eye, the mischievous smirk we seem to share, invites us into these stylish heroes’ heightened reality.
We step into their realm of glamorous possibility, where even the most ordinary moments seem to sparkle with a luxurious sheen.
Fenix 8
Kacper Larski • Garmin
Physical transformation transpires in the moment the human body is pushed to the very precipice of its limits, and yet, limbs trembling, heart racing, sweat flying, the athlete persists.
Every frame of Kacper Larski's “Fenix 8” portrays feats of physicality with the glorifying beauty of a Renaissance painting.
Slicing across snow-white mountains, splashing into a gleaming lake, scaling a towering cliffside, we are plunged into the electrifying moments of our athlete’s persistence.
The dynamic pacing of this spot immerses us in the sensation of the limits of physicality.
We are plunged into a shaky rush of adrenaline. And then, Kacper freezes time to sit with the moment our athletes push beyond their body’s screams to stop.
The soundscape only whispers of ragged breath, the crunch of gravel, and whipping wind, all set to a graceful piano melody.
The contrast between this elegant, quiet sound and the fierce intensity of the physical exertion that flashes across the screen creates a reverent tone.
This season of metamorphosis holds great opportunity. What does this era of renewal hold for you?
